The Warp Star is a rounded star item that appears throughout the Kirby franchise, and it first appears in Kirby's Dream Land. It allows Kirby or another character to travel from one location to the next. A Warp Star usually disappears upon touching the ground.
Super Smash Bros. series
In the Super Smash Bros. series, starting with Super Smash Bros. Melee, Warp Stars have appeared as an item in every installment. Whenever a character grabs a Warp Star, they go up into the air and then crash down to the ground, creating an explosion that destroys the Warp Star and damages any opponent.
A Warp Star also appears in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Kirby and Peach/Zelda use it to escape from the stadium right before it is swallowed by Subspace. However, they are chased by the Halberd, and are forced to land on it.
In the World of Light in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Kirby uses a Warp Star to escape Galeem's attack in the introductory cutscene.
