Laser Ball is a commonly known enemy throughout the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Adventure. Originally, it yielded the Laser ability when inhaled, but in some games, it yields Beam instead.
Physical appearance and behavior
Laser Ball is an orange round ball with 2 eyes, and what looks like a blue mouth. On occasion, it can be seen stuck in a walled enclosure, unable to move, practically waiting for Kirby to eat it up. It is very mobile and can go through walls, but when it fires its lasers from a wall, it becomes practically ineffective of hurting Kirby if it attacks through a wall. When possessed by Ghost Kirby in Kirby: Squeak Squad, it cannot go through walls, but can still successfully fire up to 4 lasers, albeit the lasers will not ricochet off of slants or slopes. Oddly enough, its artwork from Kirby: Squeak Squad and Kirby Super Star Ultra are exactly identical, as the artwork displays it firing its laser attack.
Game appearances
Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
Laser Ball makes its first appearance in Kirby's Adventure, providing the Laser ability when ingested. It attacks by following Kirby around in mid-air. As soon as he is in its sight, it fires 3 rounds directly as soon as it locks onto him.
Kirby Super Star / Kirby Super Star Ultra
Laser Ball appears in these 2 games. However, it grants the Beam ability instead of Laser, seeing as the latter is absent in both games. It retains the same behavior, despite the only only minor difference is it can make its laser turn 90 degrees by reflecting its own laser attack from thin air. It is commonly found in The Great Cave Offensive, Revenge of Meta Knight, Milky Way Wishes and Meta Knightmare Ultra.
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror & Kirby: Squeak Squad
Laser Ball appears in these titles, and once again provides the Laser ability. It still retains the same behavior and attack plan as Kirby's Adventure and Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Laser Ball appears as a cameo in the form of a Keychain you can collect. Its sprite is depicted from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Kirby Fighters 2
Laser Ball appears as a cameo, albeit in its original 8-bit form from Kirby's Adventure on the Butter Building battle stage. However, it flies in either the right or left directions, rather than the vertical angle it tends to fly in, and can fire up to 3 lasers before flying off. Despite this, Laser Ball can be damaged or defeated using any copy ability Kirby currently has on his person.
