Kirby's Star Stacker is a Game Boy puzzle game which was released in 1997. Similar to Tetris and other tile-matching video games overall, Kirby's Star Stacker involves the player having to stack Stars between the Animal FriendsRick, Kine, and Coo—to create Chains, earning them points, and prevent the Stars from stacking to the top of the screen.

In 1998, a follow-up game, titled Kirby no Kirakira Kizzu, was released for the Super Famicom, exclusively in Japan. Kirby's Star Stacker was later ported to the Nintendo 3DS's Virtual Console in 2012 in Japan, Europe, and Australia and in 2013 in North America.

Profile

Nintendo.com (1997)

"Everyone's favorite tuff-guy, puff-ball action hero, Kirby, returns for puzzle fun in Kirby's Star Stacker for Game Boy! In the tradition of classic puzzle games like Tetris, Kirby's Star Stacker challenges you to manipulate pairs of falling objects to clear away as many stars as you can. Of course, the more you play, the faster the objects fall, and the more lines of new objects spring up from the bottom of the screen. It's a familiar concept with its own unique twists that will keep puzzle players pounding their Game Boy Control Pad for hours!"[1]
