Hammer is a recurring Copy Ability in the Kirby franchise. It makes its first appearance in Kirby's Adventure. Hammer grants Kirby a giant hammer resembling King Dedede's. In most appearances, Hammer Kirby wears a white-and-blue rope headband.
Super Smash Bros. series
In Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Hammer appears as Kirby's side special attack. Kirby does not wear a headband while using this move in either game. The move basically involves Kirby pulling out the hammer and quickly swinging it. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, when using the Hammer in midair, Kirby swings it around vertically, similar to the Giant Swing move used by the Hammer ability, but in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Kirby instead swings the hammer twice horizontally.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Kirby instead has Hammer Flip as his side special attack. Hammer Flip essentially serves as an enhancement of the Hammer move, with the main difference being that Kirby can charge the Hammer before unleashing it.
